  Hardware Burnin Imaging

For hardware a modified version of the current reimaging system was set up on a closed network, not connected to the GCC network.

The set up is one computer serving images and TFTP / DHCP services connected to a switch.

As they set up workstations, they connect these stations to the switch which is not connected to the GCC network.

The stations then net boot from the local server using a modified version of the dos boot image. This image pulls down a small ghost boot partition onto the computer and automatically restarts it.

The computer then boots up from the ghost boot partition and connects to a different multicast session serving Burnin.gho on the same local server. The station then waits for a technician to start the session. The idea is that a tech can set up any number of machines to multicast their image and then start it. All sessions are set to restart on completion.

This is a temporary setup for the Summer 2006 build and will eventually be replaced.
