Known issues with WebDAV on Windows XP

  • Files on WebDAV connections are not treated as equivalent to local files. This means that most applications will not be able to open files directly from the WebDAV connection. Instead of attempting to open a file directly, you should first copy it to a local directory, then open it and work with it remembering to copy it back to the remote directory when you are finished.
  • Files marked hidden will be listed in WebDAV directories, but you will not be able to copy them or access them in any way. If a directory or any of its subdirectories contains a hidden file, copying that directory recursively may silently fail to copy all the files. This issue is currently being submitted to Microsoft for review.
