Earthday is Tuesday, April 22nd.
- Earthday in a box: http://ww2.earthday.net/~earthday/node/88

- Chill Out: Campus Solutions to Global Warming is a yearly campus sustainability contest. On April 16, there will be a free broadcast that includes the winners as well as other discussions and [YouTube]entries. The broadcast is available on April 16th and anytime after, it's FREE. Plus, if Green Efforts and/or Environmental Club are interested in entering next year's contest, it would probably be good to start by looking at the other entries/efforts at other campuses. http://www.nwf.org/campusEcology/chillout/

- Dumpster Dive:
- 7am
- purpose? Take waste stream from the institution, sort through it to analyze proportion of recycled material being dumped. This would be repeated to see if the amount of recycled material is decreasing. Raises awareness of the amount of non-recycling on campus. Discussion of how early we should start. Perhaps start by 7:00. Hopefully, different classes will use the dumpster dive for different foci: anthropology, economics, math, biology.
- Robert will coordinate with Al so we're not doing anything inappropriate/hazardous
- Mary is confident that we could record results as we collect
- Mary's 10am class that will have completed their climate change exercise and can help with sorting and recording
- media request for video coverage
- Environmental Club to request
- promote bus passes? Lee Ann will ask Regis about this. We could also coordinate with Dolly.
- prefer shaded location - on the main mall
- Doris Velasco and the High Tech Centers have planned "Earth Day on HTC Street" with a life-size "Oscar"-like graphic into whose open mouth could be thrown empty plastic bottles and soda cans. The items will go directly into a large trash can which serves as "Oscar's" body. We can set up wherever the hub of activities will be on that day.
- Focus event
- DPR will give presentation (they are building the new Life Science)
- 11:30am?
- combine with announcing results of morning Dumpster Dive
- media request for video coverage
- Rob and Will show (Lee Ann's production)
- more Green Pins/pledge - donations from those who pledged can pay for buying more
- podcast for Green Efforts (Green Acres)
- April was the identified month that we would have recycling in place. Robert will follow up with Chuck and/or Marie to see where we are with the temporary bins.
- Phi Theta Kappa might be able/willing to contact vendors or, after having attended their eco conference, they might have other ideas for how they want to be involved
