In honor of Earth Day 100+ students, faculty and staff sorted ~1,700 lbs
of trash at 6AM yesterday morning. This represents two days of trash (Sunday
and Monday)generated by GCC. Channels 3 and 10 covered the event.

The divers discovered that approximately 40% of the sorted trash could be recycled.
About half of this 40% was made up of plastic bottles. For more detail see other attachment.

Also, 100 cardboard recycling bins were placed around campus yesterday. Boxes
with circular holes are for bottles and cans. Boxes with slits are for paper.
Until a scheme to empty them is implemented campus-wide Green Efforts is
asking YOU to adopt one to check regularly and, when full, empty into your home
recycling bin. Email Green Efforts, or put your name on one, if you can do
this for the earth.

Thank you to all who helped with GCC's first ever Dumpster Dive and remember
to recycle!
