Computer Availability
Computers are available for everyone in HT1 and HT2 and in the Library Media Center. The Adjunct Workroom in the English Department has four computers for faculty use. The Training and Employee Development center (TED) has additional computing resources for faculty including a fax machine and a color scanner.
As soon as you get your Employee ID card you are authorized to use GCC's computers. To find out your USERNAME, simply scan the bar code that is on the back of your ID card into one of the machines which are located in both of the High Tech centers (HT1 and HT2). Your initial password is your social security number; however, you will be directed to change it the first time you use one of GCC's computers.
E-mail Accounts at GCC
Establishing a GCC e-mail account is crucial for a number of reasons. For one thing, a frequent complaint among students and departments alike is not being able to reach instructors.
There are two kinds of e-mail accounts held by employees on campus. Faculty and staff may use both or either of these accounts.
- MEMO, the e-mail system for all Maricopa Community Colleges employees. MEMO addresses are in the format firstname.lastname@gcmail.maricopa.edu for GCC employees. Dawn Meyer, our department secretary, can assist in establishing this account.
- Student Mail, the e-mail system for all Instructional Palette account holders at GCC. Student addresses are in the format username@student.gc.maricopa.edu where "username" matches one's Palette login. This account is created when you establish an Instructional Palette account.
Laptop and Camera Checkout
Laptops and digital cameras are available for adjunct faculty to check out and use on campus or at home. Full details of what is inventoried and how to check out the "critters" are available at http://www.gc.maricopa.edu/laptops/
