Getting started in this wiki

Anyone can read in the LearningSpace part of this wiki.  Several separate parts of this space are not visible to anonymous users.

In order to commen, create pages and perform other actions, people must have accounts and must log in. Then their comments appear under their names, and they can customize how they view and navigate this space through settings kept in a personal Profile.

Authenticated learners can

  • create new pages
  • edit existing pages
  • add or edit labels
  • receive updates when pages are created or modified

The best way to learn about this wiki is to spend 45 minutes (set your timer) just moving around the space.  Start at the top left corner of the screen and hover over every icon and link.  You can always get back to the opening screen by clicking on the [links] (called "breadcrumbs") at the top of the page.   And if you delve into editing, bear in mind that wikis are very forgiving -- you can always revert back to a previous version of the page if you screw up something (!).

Have questions?

As you explore, you'll probably have questions.  Questions are precious things, a critical component of learning, so don't ignore them.  Jot them down on a piece of paper.  See if you can answer your questions yourself by re-reading, or re-tracing your steps, or using the search box, or clicking on the labels.  Don't forget to read the comments of others at the bottom of pages.  Your question may have already been asked and answered.  If you can't find or discover the answer, use the comment feature to ask a question.  (If you see a question you can answer, do so, even if you only know part of the answer!)  Remember that the only silly question is the one that remains unasked.

We have a handful of additional locally created tip-sheets (click on or search tip-sheets label to find them); more detailed information is available in the Confluence user guide here: http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Confluence+User+Guide
