... h2. Signs that this has happened
1. Light blue wallpaper on login.
2. Plain gray instead of green Start Button.
3. Application settings are gone.
a. Internet Explorer goes to setup on launch
b. No access to Office 2003
c. Inability to change settings in applications or to create shortcuts
h2. One way to correct this
1. Locate the profile folder and the roam subfolder on GCCAZ.edu. H: drive
2. Delete the "ntuser.dat" file from the roam folder.
a. Before doing this, back up your Thunderbird profile.
(failure to do this will cause you to lose all local folders and the e-mails you moved to them)
b. The scratch drive is a good place to store a copy of Thunderbird profile.
3. If you can't find or delete ntuser.dat:
a. Rename the roam profile "oldroam"
b. Create a new roam folder in the same place (subfolder of the profile folder)
c. Copy visible folders from oldroam to new roam folder.
d. Delete "oldroam" folder.
4. Power off the computer, DON'T LOG OFF or SHUT DOWN\!
5. It is a good idea to login as Alpha on the affected machine to delete user folder on C: drive
(located at: C:\Documents and Settings\"name")
6. Have affected user login on different machine.
(Or on same machine after completing step 5)
7. The user profile will be re-created.
8. After login, you will have to go back and redo all application settings.
h2. Checking Thunderbird operation after profile is re-created
1. If there were local folders, you can skip step 2.
2. Have user start Thunderbird and check for normal login.
(If OK, you are done)
