HTCs' Operation Green (primary contact: Doris Velasco)
Objective:
Paper reduction, specifically targeted toward a more intelligent usage of paper resources and printing in the HTCs
How to:
Weekly, will provide printing tips to users, including a campaign for continued recycling of used paper.
Ongoing Promotion:
* Slogans are on cut-out tree forms are hung on the north and south walls of the HT1 pit.
* New desktop-size recycling bins have been placed on the pods in the HTCs.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Most of the decor have been made out of used paper, salvaged cardboard boxes, etc.
Info about Kickoff Event Nov. 7, 2007:
* At the west entry of HT1, mascot of standing cardboard figure of a Lorax (a Dr. Seuss character) espoused, "I speak for the trees."
* "Mother Earth" greeted users and distributed slips containing the printing tip for the day.

Another waste stream could be eliminated if we recycle batteries (any kind/size). Jeanne and Steve asked about receptacle for collecting. Collection point would need to be in secure area because it could be hazardous.
