It took a 3 hour search just to find this link and I'm leaving it here so that I'm not forced into that hel-hole of a site again.

We have not applied any patches to the Arcserves, as I recall the last time it was attempted it hosed all the servers and we had to start from scratch.
I'm hoping to avoid this pitfall this time around by making gather3 my little redundent server.
Will inform as progress is made.

We've been have some mis-behaving scratch areas on all three backup servers. They have been filling up and not migrating the data to the backup tapes. in some cases the data was over a month old and backups were being performed directly to the tapes after the scratch failed.
I've purged out the scratch, it was now pointless anyway as the tapes were more up to date. I'm Trying some different purge and migration parameters. This should in no way effect backed up servers and should actually speed up the backup process if it's done correctly this time. As the Backup Servers will no longer be hampered by Tape access and instead will use tempory hard drive space. Never the less if you notice any performance problems during backups, (around 8pm each night) Please leave me a note and I'll see what I can do.
Removed Dale Hubler's machine from the backup process as it has not existed on the network for some time now.
Noticed that ACAD is throwing up access restriction errors for all the user folders. If these folders do not need to be backed up I'd like to know so that I may stop the backup servers from trying to access these folders.
I'm going on vaction tomorrow for a week, but I'm going to be monitoring the backup servers remotely once and a while, please feel free to ask me to restore and backup anything while I'm away as I shouldn't have an issue as long as it's backed up within this last week or the one comming.
Goodnight
Oliver
PS: Spelling is probably aweful, I haven't got the hang of the wiki just yet as I've only just started to use it, please hang-in-there.
